Introduction to THE FOG

Every day we are on Aiktak, I update the world about my day to day life, and feed the blog. For the first time in the history of the camp, we put up no HF radio in 2019. So instead of the daily turn on the radio and listen to everyone else check in, and they trying to get our words through, (the previous four seasons,  many days all I managed to say that was heard was 'KWL 45 Adak, this is KOD 673 Aiktak, I WILL EMAIL') each day this involved sending an email (this is what we did), or two (this is what we plan on doing, in case we don't get back, and this is what we did). The general format: Today the weather was. Here's what we planned on doing, here's what we did. And if we ate anything special, 'we're having pizza for dinner'. And if I painted 'here's a really small grainy photo'. And I'd ask Dan, anything interesting to report, and generally he'd say, no. But sometimes we had interesting things to report. It was weird not to hear other voices, but we adjusted rapidly (often staying out well past 10pm...). It also meant, I wrote a lot more words, and tried to make my updates more of an inclusive diary.

I've initiated blogs waaay too many times over the years. But, rapidly fall off the horse each time with 'oops sorry it's been a while'. But the need to report 'not dead' on a daily basis, is perhaps the only way to keep me consistent. Welcome to 'The Fog'. I have to write daily, might share some stuff from the past too. Follow me, let's see where this goes.

Weird winter weather we're witnessing. 20191116, pixel camera. End of driveway snow dripped on by trees.
